The Choral (12A)

Written by Alan Bennett, The Choral tells the First World War time story of a Yorkshire choral society's struggles to stage a musical production.
With the choirmaster enlisting, they choose Dr Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) to lead the production of Bach's St Matthew Passion, which receives condemnation as it was written by a German.
Guthrie chooses to stage Englishman Edward Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius instead, but things do not go smoothly.
A star-studded cast includes Roger Allam, Alun Armstrong and Simon Russell Beale, who plays the composer.
