If you're a connoisseur of fine wine - particularly the bubbly sort - then you will love this classic period drama of how the house of Veuve Clicquot began.

Young Barbe Nicole (a sparkling performance from Haley Bennett) marries Francois, son of a rich textile merchant, and the pair are put in charge of the family's growing champagne business. But when Francoise falls ill and dies at the tender age of 30, Barbe decides to defy convension and take over the business, much against her father-in-law and business associates wishes.

She struggles to keep the business going but, with some amazing innovations and the help of faithful employee Louis Bohne (a spirited Sam Riley) she succeeds in establishing the business throughout Europe.
