Green Book (12A)

The title of this intriguing movie is based on the The Negro Motorist Green Book, a travel guide for safe passage in and around America's racist south in the 1960s. Tony "Lip" Vallelonga, played by Viggo Mortensen, is a tough bouncer looking for work while his nightclub undergoes refurbishment. But despite his prejudices, he is forced to take on the role of driver for the African-American classical pianist Don Shirley (an Oscar-winning turn from Mahershala Ali) on a concert tour around the Deep South. As they both witness the appalling injustices around them, this mis-matched pair begin to form an unlikely bond.
